Dr. Gideon Friedman is Head of the Research and Development Division at the Office of the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Energy. His areas of practice include renewable energy policy and pricing, electricity economy, distributed and smart grid, grid security, energy efficiency.

Dr. Friedman holds a doctorate in physics from Stanford University in California, a bachelor's degree in mathematics-physics (cum laude) from Tel Aviv University, economics from Tel Aviv University, and a certificate in bioinformatics from the Open University. He has more than 15 years of managerial experience and experience in R&D in the following areas: testing systems in the semiconductor market, medical equipment, biotechnology, and also managed a pharmaceutical start-up company.
